EVOLVER/POLYEVOLVER CONTINUOUS CONTROLLERS MAPPING

SoundTower happily puts this version of the Continuous Controller Mapping function in your capable hands. We ask but a small consideration: that any interesting maps you create that you feel have some musical merit be sent to us at evolver@soundtower.com

We will post some of these with the final version as templates for the map function when all the testing is finished.

From the team at SoundTower, thank you and ... happy toggling!

The Continuous Controllers mapper is a way to group and audition parameters using CC's. By example a single Mod Wheel can control a nearly unlimited  number of parameters with this function. The Continuous Controller Mapping function is found under Option in the menu .

The Continuous Controllers window is arranged in columns that group the various controller and parameters to be used.

From left to right:

The grouping number is there for the convenience of the user.

The Continuous Controller numbers are the standardized numbers in a list box.

MIDI Channels 1 -16 are self explanatory.

Parameter groupings 1 through 4 allow for the user to select any of the Evolver/PolyEvolver editing parameters to be represented in that group. Any of the 191 program and sequencer parameters may be selected in any combination.

A single controller, such as a Mod Wheel, is not limited to controlling only one group of 4. Any number of User defined parameter groups containing 4 differing parameters in each group can be controlled by one or more CC's.

By way as an example see the next image.

There are five User selected groups of four defined parameters. Note that the controller Modulation Wheel is controlling 2 groups of four with 8 separate parameters defined. All are going through channel 1. This is shown just to make the point that it is possible. All could be set to different channels. The User selected group #4, controlled by Main Volume, has been turned off in this example . 1,2,3 and 5 are on. The Mapper will send as the Active check box has been checked. If unchecked there will be no data sent to the MIDI.

Individual user selected groups of four parameters are activated or deactivated through toggling the On/Off button at . The larger issue of activation of the entire function is dealt with by checking the check box below.

LOAD/SAVE/NEW

Maps can be Loaded and Saved on the users hard drive. After work on the mapping is finished for a session the parameter/controller/channel setup can be saved by clicking on the Save button and save in the normal manner.

The Save and Load screens are basically the same. Note the extension: ._cc is used.

After the users work is saved the NEW button can be toggled and the entire window is reset to the initial settings for a new session.
